Bioremediation

The bacterial species that produce rhamnolipids and lipopeptides naturally occur in soil and water polluted by petroleum and organic wastes. As a result, they are a naturally suitable for in situ or ex situ soil or water remediation projects, especially of sites contaminated by polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and heavy metals. Pesticides remediation is another available application by these biosurfactants.
